external vs internal

Post by cswpink »

I will be having surgery in about 3 weeks to remove my bladder due to reoccurring cancer. I am having a really difficult time choosing between the external bag or internal pouch. I would appreciate any feedback from both sides.

Thanks!

I have had both types. I currently have the internal one- started off with the external. I had tons of problems with it, had it revised once, then continued to have problems. I will say that the internal one is a longer surgery and a longer recovery time, BUT once that is over it is easier to maintain and as close to being "normal" as one can be with out a bladder. My internal pouch is 22 years old :D. Judith
