I would like to hear from anyone who has undergone bladder augmentation with tissue from the large intestine and a continent catheterizable stoma formed from a section of the small intestine including the ileocecal valve. I am ready to commit to this operation reccommended by my urologist but would like to hear from anyone who has had experience with this type of continent urostomy. Any information on problems with the stoma, with catheterization, with bowel issues or any other issues would be welcome. I am an incomplete quadriplegic receiving intermittent catheterization for 8 years. The drugs for bladder control are no longer very effective, especially at night, and we are tired of being enslaved by bladder spasms.
