My urologist is wanting me to get either a neobladder or a urostomy to help with years and years of bladder and kidney problems. I have been looking up online lots of information about something called a Kock Continent Urostomy. This sounds like it would work better than having a urostomy bag (since I already have a ileostomy appliance on my right abdomen), and it would prevent kidney reflux, like I have read is common in urostomies.

Does anyone have one of these and have had positive results from it? The cathing would be no big deal because I cath through a mitrofanoff stoma in my belly button already (my appendix is attached to my belly button and to my bladder for the stoma).
If anyone has any information they can give me about this type of continent urostomy, it would really help me out and allow me to have something to show my urologist next Wednesday.

I'm sorry that I missed posting before your Wednesday appointment.

Ten years ago I got a "modified" Koch pouch (for bladder cancer). I have had NO problems. Am not super careful about hygiene when cathiong and have had no infections (pouchitis or kidney infection).

If you have decided to go ahead (or if you just want to converse), I would be more then willing (honored even) to share my journey and provide any needed support as you adjust (because it may require adjusting to your new life).
