At least the system I put on at 10:30 pm (following 6:30 pm and 9:30 am) is holding without seepage from wound dressing
Just placed some orders. My usual Convatec moldable Tupperware, which is familiar and convenient and I'd hate like hell for it to be the reason I get a skin issue every summer (right under the ring, right over fleshy part of skin). A new honey dressing thrown in (without regard to cost or whether they call to say I need prescription).
And a box of Hollister pre cut wafers from Amazon to see if I have improved luck with them this round. Hollister always seems tempting. Floating flange should cut down on trauma from hard ring, right? But prior flirtations never seem to show any healing with skin issue of the time; I frequently find seepage where pouch meets wafer; and I don't think it adheres to my skin as well as Convatec.
Posting like mad here because it's only real outlet, esp. In middle of the night. Sorry for being repetitive.
Seems ostomy systems get less reliable. Only real problem I remember having with old Hollister karaya systems was those clips. Had to switch in Phoenix because the bag had heat issues. Convatec was my chum from 1996 on (Hollister 1973-1996) but issues cropped up around time of necessary revision for hole in muscle wall around stoma.
I'm a klutz, so I need moldable or pre-cut two piece system with click fit. And I've had poor luck getting one-pieces to work since my old karaya system; seems my skin needs some rigid structure for security. I did try reordering karaya bags a few years ago, but they had a problem with a post-revision dip in my skin. I'm just a hair over 1.25" stoma so I need the 57 mm flanges.
I hate this quarter-sized skin issue. I hate not knowing why I have it - current WOCN and surgeon both stymied, neither one thinks it's the Convatec wafer (prior WOCN thought it was; I switched WOCN when she took a job too far for convenient visits). It's not pyoderma, it's not a pressure sore... I hate not knowing what to put on it - which dressing, how much...
Anyway, almost morning, Time to rejoin human race. Thanks for tolerating my rants and moans.
