Hi, I am totally new to having an illeostomy. I have found this an extremely bumpy road to finding the correct appliances. After 1 1/2 months in both the hospital and nursing home and now home health the struggle has been unbelievable with waking up every night 4 to 5 times to keep my pouch from blowing off even when trying to eat the correct foods. Luckily, I have now found 2 great ET nurses and should
arrive at my correct appliance this weekend. I exercised 1 1/2 hours 6 days weekly and can't believe I ended up with 3 surgeries in 5 days a total of 25 hours of surgery with the surgeon informing my wife on the last surgery I may not make it through. At 74 everyone is saying my great shape got me through this ordeal. I think God did more. As a side note after waking up in fecal matter 1 to 2 times nightly and sometimes 4 to 5 appliance changes in 2 days I approached a local huge linen cleaning company and they sell approximately 350 face cloths for $7.00.
I am requesting all the info I can from UOAA and loved the video. I want to relive my new life to its fullest!

Re: Face cloths
Oh my goodness. So sorry for all that you have been through. I hope things get better for you. What appliance are you using? I am switching to Coloplast SenSura Mio as my favorite Hollister appliance was discontinued last year. I have found in recent months, some products have a strong hold than others. And SenSura has a nice strong hold. Call them up and request samples. That might help with the nightly blow outs
Button has an illeostomy and hopefully she can offer some advice.
\Good luck,
