Hi all,
I'm 3 weeks post op of rectum removal and things are mostly going okay. But I have noticed that there is this VERY tense aching pain in my penis after orgasm and ejaculation. It's only after ejaculation.
I've talked with my surgeon and he says I should give things more time. Can anyone share their experiences about this please? I'm very worried...
Thanks.

I've not experienced that. I have experienced, after ejaculation, some "tension/ache" in my gut that almost feels like I need to have a bowel movement, but I don't. There is a vast network of nerves in the area that was removed. Many times, erectile dysfunction is a common side effect of APR surgery. I will say that over time it has gotten better, but I still notice it. I agree with the surgeon. Give it more time, but unfortunately, it also may be something you have to live with as a side effect of the surgery.

Obviously, I don't suffer from this. I have learned that post-surgical healing takes TIME even if everything seems or looks ok. When I'm ushering at the theater and on my feet for a while, I feel tension and achiness in my lower pelvis and upper thighs. Sometimes, I have to sit down and it passes. I think it's a nerve-related reaction since so many nerves were cut during my abdominal -- and perhaps rectal -- surgery. Nerve endings explore new ways to grow -- that's tingling which is different. After a while, if you're not satisfied with your surgeon's answer, seek out advice from another doctor. Good luck to you.

I’m 10 weeks out from APR surgery. I have had the same ache but not after ejaculation. For me it was when I coughed I got that feeling in my penis. I still get a little ache when I cough but it’s getting much better. A few weeks after surgery I “tested” to see if I could still get an erection. I could but when I ejaculated it stung like hell.
and only a small amount of clear precum came out.
It doesn’t sting anymore when we have sex but I still only
produce a very small amount of clear fluid. I did have 6 weeks of radiation before surgery and the surgeon said he beat up on my prostate pretty bad so that could be the reason.
Hang in there buddy it will get better. For me 10 weeks out my incisions have healed nicely and I feel great.
My tumor was so close to my anus I kept all of my colon
so I have not had to change my diet. I eat everything I ate before. Living with permanent stoma has proven to be not that big a deal. I use a two piece hollister closed end bag
and finding I only have to change once a day. I was only getting 3 days on the wafer but stoma nurse suggested getting the donut barrier rings. Now I get 6 days. This week I’m going to see how 7 days works out since seal still looks fine after 6.
I purchased the “ Stealth Belt” and love it!! I wear it 24/7. I would highly recommend it. I was a little worried
that having bag sitting sideways would impact output but
not a problem. Anyways hope this helps ease your mind.
