Left Holding the Bag

One day my husband came home from work exhausted.
He turned to me and said, "Honey, I am so tired, I think one day I will just keel over and leave you holding the bag".
We paused, and then both burst out laughing.
Thus the title of my book was born.
After four years, it is finally published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
My personal story, my journey through ostomy surgery, written to offer hope for those who may be suffering.

Wow ! Cowabunga !

Congratulations on your achievement of authorhood and giving voice to your experience with IBD and the re-finding of health.

I am going to tootle on over to Amazon and purchase your book.

Your selected title, “Left Holding the Bag,” says it all and will immediately connect your book and its target audience.

I look forward to reading your book. Congratulations, again, on this wonderful personal achievement.

Yep, I have ordered your book on Amazon and it is on its way.

I wanted to come back and comment on the book’s cover and photography. Beautiful. I live in the Pacific NW and easily relate to the forested landscape of your book’s cover and the serenity that the landscape evokes.

I look forward to reading your book and learning from you,
Karen

Kristin:
Your book “Holding the Bag” arrived from Amazon yesterday. Prime shipping is lightening fast.

My sincere acknowledgments to you on a book well-written. I have already completed reading your book from cover to cover.

Your written expression is impressive. You well articulate the many emotions that accompany a new diagnosis. You discuss how to navigate the unfamiliar. You discuss the importance of family and social supports. You discuss spirituality. You discuss how to live - and live fully - within whatever constraints may exist.

You do not have to have ulcerative colitis to appreciate Kristin’s writing and her book’s many teachings.

Good job, Kristin. Kudos to you. Applause. Accolades. To think, we have a published author on the forum!
Karen

KUDOS! I'd like to write up my story, too, to people can avoid pitfalls. It goes back so far -- to birth! Maybe if I get started, it will just flow -- and take over my life! ;) It's great that you did this and I will check it out!

Just finished your book! Had to laugh at the looking for a trash can part. When we travel, my husband scouts out the area for the "best" trash can to throw my stuff into. In cities, the ones on the street are best, usually disgusting anyway.

Your book was comforting to me, reinforced that others have the same concerns, same thoughts in regards to dealing with an ostomy.

Thank you, Kristin, and congratulations!

Wow! Thank you all so much!
I knew you would understand as few people can.
The humor definitely helps. I have to remind myself that I have a choice, to give up or to look up!
If anyone feels so inclined to write a review on Amazon or Barnes & Noble, that would be awesome!

Kristin:
I just finished leaving a review of your book on Amazon. (Amazon sent me a message that it may take 24-48 hours for the review to post).

“Holding the Bag” is a gem of a little book. I like how you designed the book as a collection of short chapters. It makes the book inviting to pick and easier to find time for and enjoy.

You did an absolutely great job !
