My skin underneath my appliance is red. It is not sore, raw, weeping or preventing my appliance from staying on. It just looks red. Everything I read about parastoma skin color has said that it should looks the same as the rest of your skin. Anyone else have this situation?

I use Holister products and my skin under the flange is also red. I have a big hernia and using a convex flange was recommended but it made the skin purple! The ostomy nurse said don't worry about it but I did and now just use pieces of Adapt barrier rings to surround my stoma, then a regular flange.

I also use Hollister products but have also used others and my skin would get red under the flange, i bought compound of Benzoin Tinture and that really did the trick, it also makes the flange stick super good if you have trouble with that.. i use it for diff. things..I apply it with a Q-tip and it has lasted over a year..

Also on the convex i agree it makes the skin around your stoma purple i also have a large hernia...

best of luck, sassie
