Lettuce chopper

Have ileostomy , 30 years.

Have had 100s of minor obstructions, which as the years go by get more serious. More hospital stays than previous years.

Apparently adhesions obstructing etc.

I have no teeth, and false teeth that I cannot use due to jaw problems. So I pretty much chop and cook the heck out of everything.
Had an old, small electric chopper that would take care of lettuce, getting it fine enough that I didn't have to worry about it.
It failed and I have not been able to find a small electric chopper to replace it with. Tried a few and they just don't do it, even a Ninja with 4 blades.
Manufactures all say the same thing, that lettuce just does not lend itself to fine chopping. Funny that my ancient.and cheap chopper had no problem.

At any rate, I am in need of any information on a machine that will chop lettuce very fine.

Thanks,
Al

What about an old fashioned Knife. Also how did the old chopper fail, if the electric motor failed maybe you can have it repaired at an electric motor repair shop.

Thanks. I have used a knife, but to get it to a size that I feel comfortable is a job.
The old one was probably 23-30 years old. I am pretty handy, but I don't think finding a new motor was possible.

I'm guessing you've searched online. I imagine this and oher tools recommended here would take too much time? https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/ ... 1018194040 Really sorry to hear about your situation. Do you have a neighborhood listserv? Could you advertise for a "handyman" to build one for you? Or post fliers in a library? It'd be great if hospital staff could help, but I have my doubts. Good luck!

Often it is possible to repair an old motor by rewinding the coils....Google Electric motor repair.

Hi all my wife has a small food chopper made by Oster holds about 2cups and when we have tacos I use that to chop up lettuce for my tacos, my wife likes hers in shreds but I cant chew them up fine enough and they come out like strings, sorry if that's too graphic.

Nothing is too graphic up here! Too bad school is out. Do students still take shop? I wonder if a teacher could suggest this project to students. It could be helpful for several foods.
