Multiple bowel movements

I’ve had my colostomy for about a year and a half. For the most part I average changing the bag about twice a day. The output is soft formed. There are days where, for some unknown reason, I need to change it up to six times in just a few hours even though the consistency of output is the same.
Does anyone know the reason for this?

For me, eating causes peristalsis, which moves the output along the path...Aging could be playing a factor. Have you thought about irrigation. Sounds like you'd be a good candidate, and ideally, you wouldn't have to change pouches at all during the day.

regular or sporadic? this happens to me on occasion, but not in any periodic form. i assume, something I ate was, undercooked, sat on counter too long, bad fast food, something not washed when I should have washed it, odd assortment of lots of spices. store bought gravity does come out quick and lots of flow.
also sounds like you would do better with a drainable bag. I empty my coloplast sensura in about the same time it takes me to pee. once to twice a day then for the rest of the time, bag is completely empty or very near empty.

Thanks for the replies. I don’t know anything about irrigation but I’ll look into it. The issue is sporadic and just happens sometime. I usually try to tie it back to something I ate. Even when it happens the output is pretty formed and solid. I use the closed end throw away bags because of the consistency emptying them and reusing would not work.
Thanks again!
