i have been running out of deoderant and am wondering if i could add a little olive oil to a half bottle?

I think so. You mean you're using this to allow the stool to slide down the pouch, yes? I've heard that ostomates have used vegetable oils of various kinds. I find the Hollister product almost too greasy. Guess I am using too much. It slides all the way down and slips past the clip (I opt for clips over the velcro closures). We're supposed to insert a small amount and then rub the sides of the pouch together -- but I still find that it leaks. Will try to use much less.

I found that to be a problem too. When I was testing out Hollister samples, the drainable bags leaked. With the velcro type, I had to put toilet paper on the velcro part before rolling up.

Yes other people have used vegetable oil as a back up.

Anyone find any other product? Do rub the pouch together after you apply the oil but I don't think I'll be using this Hollister product anymore. I definitely do need something to help the stool slide down. It's leading to leakage in bed. I have a LOT of laundry to do... Using puppy pads in bed again!

I used to use some spray vegetable oil like Pam Seemed to work well as it dispersed with spraying.

I use Hollister Adapt lubricant. It doesn’t have any deodorant function. It works well and I’ve never had problems with leaking past the bag closure device. That said, it won’t help much with pancaking at the stoma which can cause undermining. Nowadays in my new intestinal configuration I have very little pancaking because my output is much more ileostomy like.
