I had a ruptured gut from diverticulitis with sepsis resulting in a colostomy. Six months later it was reversed which I was glad of. However, two days after the reversal I started having explosive diarrhea and it's never stopped. Occasionally things will be almost normal but it is short-lived. I have taken hundreds of Immodium tablets, lomotil, Diarescue, cholestyramine, IBGuard, dicyclomine, and hyoscyamine and NOTHING stops it. Everything goes right through me in rapid time, even clear fluids.
Is anybody else dealing with this?
I went to a GI specialist with the Mayo Clinic and he told me to take Immodium, I told him I had already taken a ton of it with no results. He told me to take it anyway, so I did with no improvement. (apparently having a doctor tell you doesn't make it work better), Next, he prescribed Lomotil which I had already tried with no results.
I have dehydrated several times and had to go to the er for fluids and I have hardly any urine because I lose all the fluid I drink with diarrhea. Help!
If anybody has any ideas or suggestions I'd love to have them. Thanks in advance.
