trouble removing flange

I've recently had to change appliances because they stopped making the Hollister 2 piece system I was using. I'm now using a Convatec two piece system and I'm having a terrible time removing the flange when it's time to change it. It sticks so well to my skin that it takes me around 15 minutes to painstakingly pry it from my body. This has resulted in my skin tearing and bleeding in several places. It's the pectin wafer that is sticking, not the tape around the appliance. Can anyone offer any help, is there a product out there that will make it easier to remove? Any tips, will water help? (I've tried wetting my fingertips but that hasn't worked) This has lead to my appliance not feeling very comfortable on and changing more often only makes the problem worse. I change about every three days right now. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are products called adhesive removers out there. Also my might want to try a different appliance like the Hollister New Image two piece or the Coloplast MIo. I have used both antd they were both easily removable..

Rubbing alcohol. Yes, it will agitate angry skin/sore areas, but it's the ingredient in a lot of adhesive removers, and it's cheaper!

Convatec makes 2 different wafer systems. The stomahesive will last about 3 days, but the durahesive(which might be what you have) is an extended wear systems and will last a week or more(for me at least). That one is really hard to remove any sooner than a week. You probably need to find another wafer if you want to change that often. There are spray removers that can ease the wafer off, but I don't have experience with them.

I have been using the Stomahesive wafer for many years - change every six or seven days usually and have not had trouble removing it....your skin must be ultra sensitive - mine comes right off....I remove it in the shower and wash my skin there....

But I agree, you should call Convatec...they tend to be helpful.

It sounds like the Convatec Durahesive. My skin won't tolerate it and is made worse by the adhesive remover. I use the same Stomahesive wafer as Mara and have for 35 years. It will come off easily in my experience. I get 4 - 6 days.

I use convetec just for that reason. The wafer forms and sticks so well to your body and movements
I use a spray release. Wafer drops right off. No problem.
At first. Ya. I had a problem getting them off until I found the spray. Worth it's weight in gold.
Ask your supplier for an adhesive spray releaser. They all carry them. There are wipes too but the spray makes the wafer drop right off.

I completely agree with Richard - definitely try the adhesive remover spray! I order one Coloplast Brava adhesive remover bottle with each monthly bag order, and I cannot imagine trying to remove my wafers without it. It’s also handy for cleaning up the adhesive residue on your skin before you dry and apply a new bag. Good luck, hope it helps.

Stoma powder? It what I used a long time ago and it worked. I don't know if it will work for you.
Others may chime in.
The releaser I use to get the flange off is call Sensi-care. Stuff is liquid gold when it comes to taking the flange off. Just spray on as your pulling it off and it just drops off. Does not hurt the skin whatsoever. Great stuff. Skin saver.

How often do you change your wafer. My skin likes it the less I change my wafer, the happier it is. I generally go 5 days, but many times I go a week with out changing my wafer. You might want to check out Coloplast SenSur Mio. I too had to change after Hollister stopped making my 2 piece system last year. I'm very happy with it. I generally change that wafer every 5 days.

When I had my surgery 15 yrs ago, I left the hospital with ConvaTec, but developed an allergic reaction to it after 2 yrs.
