UPDATE to my hernia surgery
if you all remember i have a overlarge parasttomal hernia and went to NYC to see Dr Zachary Gleit at the columbia hernia center. when i saw him in may he wanted me to lose some weight before he did the surgery which is what i have been trying to do, however with me being wheelchair bound and since then i also hurt my hip and back again i have been unable to really do any exercise therefore haven't lost enough weight yet. i did go back to see him believe it was last week and he said that since i have not had any issues again he would still like me to try to continue to lose more weight ideally he wants me under 200 pounds. i am currently at 218. basically he said the more weight i lose the better. unless of course i start having severe pain and vommiting again. if that happens he wants me to call him immediately and get the next train to the city. or if i feel the need to go to the ER locally and have them call him and he will arrange for transport down there. if i don't go emergently i am to go back to see him in february. all in all it was a good visit and i know i need to be more vigilant with my diet and cut way back on the alcohol.

Oh, gosh, so many hurdles! I really do wish you luck. Losing weight has been challenging for me, too, but I admit I need to exercise. It's so hard to do without moving. So sorry about this additional diagnosis. I wouldn't think alcohol would go well with the meds and hope you've managed to discontinue it. You'll also lose weight. Alcohol slows down our systems. Am not sure how many drinkers are out there but I feel too woozy after drinking and need every brain cell possible!
Can you do "senior" exercises while sitting in a chair? Lift light weights? I'm sure all this is tough.
Good luck!

Re: UPDATE to my hernia surgery
ok guys don't have inter cranial hypertension, was on meds and the side effects were worse than the actual symptoms i was experiencing i am still struggling with my weight i have started intermittent fasting 2 weeks ago and have lost 2 pounds so far. i am also calorie counting with my fitness pal. i have 2 cheat days a week but all seems to be going ok i generally fast 13-16 hours a day eat a brunch consisting of a veggie protein and a healthy fat typically either a bone broth or avocado. then either chicken or fish with a veggie for dinner. all grilled. and typically have 1 to 4 drinks a night but they are counted in the calorie count. have not been to surgeon again yet as it just isn't safe in NYC yet between covid and the protests i am not chancing it. and they have agreed with me thus far. it isn't urgent so i will continue to lose the weight and hopefully later this year it will be safe enough to go down there at least for the day. i don't see it happening anytime soon though sad to say.
