pro biotics supplement

Hello there, for those who don't know, I had surgery where my large intestine was removed. Used to have a colostomy, now have an ileostomy. My question this time is probiotics, I've read that they are good to use for several reasons. Was wondering if any one is taking them and if they are working. I've read up on the subject, mostly good, I think, but some side effects. Would appreciate any input.
