Sad News About Steve Strizic

I very much regret to inform members that Steve Strizic of Washington State is not doing well at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital. Newcomers may not recognize the name but Steve held positions with UOAA in Washington State and helped create the 30+ group at national and regional conferences. He then was a friendly, kind, optimistic, and extremely supportive guy who welcomed all. He's remained that despite serious health challenges. When I met Steve at the Las Vegas National Conference, he went out of his way to ensure all felt comfortable.
Steve became a good friend over the years. Over Facebook, we discussed nature's beauty in Washington, cats (his is George while I am allergic to dander), music -- esp the blues, and more. A few years ago, I went to a wedding in CA, went up to Oregon to see my cousin and friends, and 2 of us (both ostomates) met up with Steve and his incredibly loving and loyal brother, Rick Strizic, who is with him now, at a restaurant by the water. Then, Steve was reliant on oxygen and not in the best shape but NEVER complained despite a variety of diagnoses. I marvel at his persistence and upbeat nature.
Thanks to Rick, last night I left a message by phone to Steve. He's been in the ICU and uncommunicative but maybe he heard it. On Facebook, if you are a friend of Steve or Rick, are some updates. Rick has posted that Steve's heart seems to be giving out and he's on life support. If you want to get in touch with Rick ASAP, let me know. He asked me to post an update here on this Discussion Board. Steve is or was a member but Rick is not and can't post and is busy caring for Steve.
If you believe in the power of healthy wishes and prayers, send them to Steve now. He's been a wonderful friend, is SO lucky to have Rick in his life, and they've both improved my life. If you contact Tacoma General directly, Steve is in ICU ROOM 471 but how much longer, I don't know.
