Question Barium Xray with an ileostomy

I had a barium xray today in preparation for a potential reversal. I am concerned about getting rid of all of the barium since I have no rectal output and it appeared that I did not evacuate all of the barium prior to going home. Any advice?

Barium is known to cause constipation, so not having evacuated all of it shouldn't be of any particular concern. It will make it's way out eventually! But, as always, contact your doctor if you are having any issues, like having trouble having a bowel movement or you can’t have a bowel movement. Having pain or bloating in your abdomen, or if you have stools that are smaller in diameter than usual (this is for those with original plumbing). Good luck on the reversal.

I just had a HIDA scan to check on my gallbladder. The technician injected the radioactive stuff, and told me that when I emptied my ileostomy pouch to remember that the contents were radioactive for about two days, and three days at the most. I did NOT glow in the dark.
