Can you use a Hollister flange with a Convatec pouch, if they are both the same size (for instane 1 3/4" or 2")?

It's been my experience over the years that although the flange diameters may be the same, a difference in the depth of the connection ring may prevent a secure closure. The only real way to find out is to give it a trial run.

I've never found it possible to mix brands UNLESS the system is very low-profile and has an adhesive coupling. For instance, I might be able to use a low-profile Hollister flange and attach a Convatec Esteem pouch to it. I found some unmatched pairs and did this. But I had ordered these adhesive supplies which don't click or connect like Tupperware long ago when I had a colostomy and irrigated. Now, with an ileostomy, they'd leak and last several hours at most so don't recommend for ileostomates as they are not secure.
I hate to be cynical but even though the measurements may be the same, I think manufacturers are careful to ensure that we consumers must buy their entire system in order to avoid leakage and be secure.
If someone has discovered this not to be case, great!
Everyone stay safe out there -- and hope you feel secure!

I'm never one to say never, but I agree with Diane. The manufacturers try to make sure that only there equipment works together. It'd be kin to putting Chevy parts into a Ford. You might get it to work at first, but there's bound to be trouble sooner than later... I suspect you would run into a "code brown" at some point though.
