Hello!
I'm a 35-year old ostomate located in Minneapolis, MN and am looking to start a meet up/social group for ostomates like myself who want to be around other ostomates more often and have a fun together!
I've had an ostomy since the age of 12 due to Crohn's disease, and I have experienced how having an ostomy can be isolating and hard when there is no one else in your friend groups who relate to you or your unique experiences of life as an ostomate. I know that there are support groups available through UOAA, but I am looking to build more of a "let's hang out, have fun, and do life together" social group and of course along the way we will talk about and find support through each other around living life as ostomates. I am wondering if there are others in Minnesota who would be interested in this as well?
We can figure out ways to do this during COVID19, whether meeting online or meeting in outdoor spaces that allow social distancing while wearing masks, etc.
I will check this board regularly for a few weeks, but please message me if interested.
Take care,
Marissa

Hi!
I just saw this post- even though it’s 2 years old I’m wondering if you’re still looking for other people with ostomies to socialize with in the twin cities area. I just got an ileostomy a month ago- you’re right it can be very overwhelming.

Im a 32-Year old living in St. Paul
