Hi all! This is my first post. I searched the board and didn't find an answer so I apologize f this has already been discussed. I'm 9.5 weeks out from urostomy surgery. I use a night drainage bag at night. I've been keeping it in a pail during the day at home but wondering what to do with it when I travel. I'm hoping someone has some experience with this because it's all new to me. Thank you!

Hello!
While I don't have a urostomy and know all the ins and outs with dealing with one, I do irrigate and have to take a lot of stuff with me when I travel. For irrigating, I use a sleeve that directs all of the output from my ostomy to the toilet. When I finish with it, I wash it out and hang it in the shower to dry until the next day. For traveling purposes, I dry off any excess water, fold it up and place it in a gallon ziploc bag where it stays until I need when I get to where I'm going. I would think using a gallon ziploc bag would work for your purposes here as well....just rinse it with water before you seal it up! As far as storing it when you are gone, perhaps you could do like I do with my irrigation bag. I use a suction cup hook in the shower and hang the bag and the sleeve beside each other until I need them for the next day....you could do this at home as well. Hope that helps.
David

Thank you, David! After I posted that I thought about a Ziploc bag. That's probably my best bet.

I was also gonna say large ziplock bag also; I do the same as David after irrigation.

I thought of another question related to my original question. I use vinegar and water in my leg bag and night bag when I'm not using them. I'm wondering how I can take vinegar along when I'm flying. Just put in TSA approved bottles?

That's what I'd do if I wanted to take it with me....
