Chronic Pain/spasms years after reconnection

Hi!
I am writing for my father in law. A 59 year old farmer who had an ileostomy 4 years ago and reconnected 3 years (ish) ago. Since then, he has been dealing with horrible spasms/ pain in his gut. He goes to the bathroom frequently because “it hurts to not go”. He has been in contact with his surgeon, doctor and pain clinic for these issues. He has had several procedures done including a “plasma-something “ procedure that tries to fix the tissue in his gut because they think it was weakened by radiation and the scar tissue is causing his pain? Now he is getting steroid shots from the pain clinic. He was on numerous pain meds including high dose OxyContin for 2 years and now is on Suboxone. He still has this horrible pain! He can’t sleep a whole night. The only time the pain is gone is when he sits in a hot tub. I feel horrible for him because it is starting to consume his life. He was such a hard working farmer/running his own business and still is trying to but the pain is starting to depress him. Has anyone had pain issues like this? He goes to all his appointments and listens to his doctors and they seem to be trying to help him but it just seems to be a bit much. He sometimes goes a couple days with out eating much because sometimes he says that helps but not always. Any advice? Any experience? He even tried Marajuana but that didn’t help. Would dietary options help? Acupuncture?
