Cut on Stoma

Post by Judith »

Hi and Happy Holidays to everyone. I've had my Ileostomy since 1990 and haven't had many problems with the stoma. However, today I noticed what looks like a cut underneath the stoma when I was changing my appliance. It looked white in the middle of the cut. Does anyone know what this might be? Did I cut through the mucosa to some deeper layer of tissue. Of course it is impossible to reach a doctor on Xmas weekend! Any help would be appreciated.

How did it go, are you OK?
It didn't sound like it was bleeding, and it'll probably heal on its own.

It took me over a month to get an appointment; would have taken longer, but they had a cancellation. It's tough to get anything done over the holidays.

BTW, where did everybody go? This used to be a lively site, now there are few posts.

Hi Lee: Good to see you posting. Yes, I too have noticed a lack of activity on our board including myself. I miss our frequent posters. Have been concerned about many of our members during this health crisis, especially those out in the western part of the country. They have had so much natural disaster to contend with & now this upswing in the pandemic. Hopefully, we'll all feel more like connecting in 2021.
