My son is in his 30's and had iliostomy surgery last September. He should be ready for his reconstruction surgery in the near future. Currently we are waiting to see another surgeon in a larger metropolitan city for a second opinion. My son is very sensitive about his iliostomy, is afraid to venture too far from home for fear of having leakage or needing to empty his bag. I am trying to find others that he can communicate with who might be able to help him overcome his fears until he is scheduled for his next surgery. Any help or direction is very much appreciated.

Re: Young Adult support Group
I had my ileostomy surgery in 2008, it's almost 13 years since - 36 now, 23 then. I understand the anxiety, there is a bit of trial and error involved, finding the right bags and getting used to schedules and rhythms. In any case, I'm happy to help.
