Colostomy or ileostomy? I have a colostomy. No changes in my diet. I do avoid foods that cause my system to "purge"! Over the years, I have discovered that greasy pizza, nut/nut oils, and some fish/fish oils set my system off. Not much different than before my ostomy however.
Obviously, you have to mindful of your diabetes issues.
From what I've read here, it can take some time for an ileostomy to get back to a more "normal" diet, but I don't have any experience with that....
As with all things ostomy, what you can and can't handle will be unique to you. I would recommend trying small portions of foods and see what does and doesn't work for your system. Keep a diet journal if that is something that would be beneficial for you.
Hope that helps some.
