Can't Gain Weight!!!!!

Good day,
I am 6 months post-op from having a colostomy. Had my surgery on December 30th of 2020. 6 months Before surgery I had some issues with incontinency and was hospitalized for 22 days. I went into the hospital weighing 155 and left the hospital weighing 132 lb.
As I said previously I am 6 months post-op and I still weigh 132 lb. I am working with a nutritionist and have an appetite like a horse but can't gain an ounce. Anybody have any tips on how to gain weight? Any weight gain drinks that are safe for ostomates? Please advise. I look like a twig!
Thanks and be safe!

Yeah, I had the same problem. I started a concentrated regimen of high calorie, nutrient dense meals that I actually enjoyed. My suggestion is to find something that you really like, and make the most of it. If you don't like it, you won't stick with it. For me, it happens to be liverwurst and other deli meats. Can't get enough of 'em. When I put the inhibitions about eating like that aside, and realized it was something I had to do, I started packing on the pounds. I'm a weightlifter and I got back to regular form in about a year. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice my friend. I happen to be a lover of liverwurst myself on rye bread maybe that'll be a daily regimen for me for a while. I have managed to put on 4 lb after 6 months post-op but that's not where I want to be. The doctors want me at least to be another 5 to 10 lb heavier than I am. I'm a musician not a weight lifter but I still like to have my shape back thanks a lot have a good day be blessed

Has anyone had experience good or bad with eating steak with an Ostomy? I have to gain a lot of weight and am looking for caloric foods that won' cause problems like blockage. Thank you.

Only when it was overcooked....but it was that way before the ostomy too!!

I have a colostomy, so I haven't had any issues with steak. It might different for those with an ileo...
