Weight Loss After Surgery

Hello everyone, I am scheduled for an ileostomy and Ken butt (not sure of the medical term) surgery next week. I was wandering what kind of weight loss most of you experienced after this type of surgery. I had a fairly significant surgery in November of last year and lost a great deal of weight, so I’m a little concerned about losing much more after this upcoming surgery. Thanks

Hi Jrt i had resection surgery 3yr. ago and was in the hosp. for 11 days and lost 8-10 pounds, i had only liquids by mouth for 8 days then solid foods the last 3, a nurse would bring in a menu and say the what ever was really good and i should try it but i had no appetite until about a week after i got home.

I lost almost 40 pounds after BCIR surgery due to loss of appetite. After a few months, my appetite returned and my weight returned to a normal level.
