I'm scheduled for next Friday for a one day outpatient surgery to remove a skin cancer from my scalp, I (fortunately) will be asleep during the process. Just curious - is there anything I should memtion,or need to know, or just go with the flow?

May your upcoming surgery be blessed with a good outcome & swift recovery. If I have any sort of sedated procedure, I take an appliance change just in case in a Hefty zippered top plastic bag labeled with my name, date & type of ostomy (in my case Ileostomy) & mention the fact that I have the ostomy to the admitting surgical staff. It seems to help me feel secure & a bit more in control of things.

depends on which ostomy you have! i would definitely take extra changes at least 2. i always overpack no matter where i go and i always have at least 2 changes in my hospital go bag! most of the time i pack for a full week in my go bag just in case. for my 10 day cruise in march i am taking at least 20 changes and 4 night drain bags. over kill yes but you never know these days and i always pack at least twice what i know i will need in this case i have at least quadrupled the amount. since the supplies are scarce better to take too much rather than not enough!
