How long does food take to pass through an ileostomy?

I've had certain things go through within hours.
Lettuce is one.... Vegatables.
Slow it for me. Cheese. Beans mashed potatoes peanut butter.
Many more
Gotta be careful with it though.
These foods cause wafer leaks with me.
I don't try and slow mine down. Never saw the need to.
Just drink alot of water to make up for the short transition.

I know that when I eat it causes movements, I'm guessing as things get moved down in prep for the incoming food. I generally thought it was avoid 24hrs.

From what I've learned over the years & personal experience, much depends upon the amount of remaining bowel.

It varies from person to person, of course. Maybe you should try eating foods that remain identifiable through digestion. Some people swear by beets; corn, beans, peas, and mushrooms work for me. But choose a food that doesn't give you blockages, if you are prone to them.
