Struggling with new materials in pouches

Post by Chelly »

Hi all,
are any of you having sticky, waxy messes from the way they are making some of these new pouch wafer barrier materials? I was told they absorb moisture but can turn to goo if they get too much.

Also I pancake and I’m reading in here that many if you do not rinse. I have a very active ileostomy and fond of k don’t rinse that it collects around the stoma and starts burning and itching.

Hi Chelly i,ve had an ilieo. now for 30 some years and dont clean around the stoma unless i do a bag and wafer change, when i cut the hole for my stoma size i try to get it close to the stoma as possible without touching it.

I rinse out with warm water when/if I have output. Have been doing it for over a decade and haven't had any issues. I prefer to do it that way because it feels like a new pouch!
