Insurance

Post by ricardo13 »

Is it me or have insurance companies changed their coverage options for ostomy supplies? I've worked for different companies for years and for each I've always chosen to accept their medical insurance. I've never had a problem with coverage for my ostomy supplies. However, as of 2022 I've been getting billed coininsurance. Can someone please update me!! I had been under the impression that insurance companies must cover ostomy supplies!

I've had an ostomy since 2009. I've always had co-pays on my ostomy supplies. I have been able to offset those costs with a flex spending program that takes out money from my wife's salary (we are insured by her employer) before taxes and am able to use that money to pay the co-pays. I've never been under the impression that insurance companies MUST cover anything!

Different insurers seem to have different rules…
