Stoma powder?
It's what I used way back.
Can't think of the name of the film.

The film is called Tegaderm. I had to use it years ago when skin was really broken down.

The best place to buy it is on eBay as low as $3.69. It is much more expensive other places.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tom: Good to see you posting, but sorry about the skin breakdown. Another option is to contact the folks at The Parthenon Co. out in Utah. They are very nice & very knowledgeable.
Keeping you in my prayers.

For issues under the flange, I use duoderm. Very similar to tegaderm. I believe you can get them both on Amazon at a reasonable price. Silver alginate is used a lot on chronic/non-healing wounds. Might try just the tegaderm/duoderm before using the silver alginate. Hope that helps some.

Do you get the Tegaderm tape or something else?

What do you apply to the broken skin? Nothing? Neosporin?

Thank you

I don't apply anything to the broken skin under the tegaderm. I get it as dry as possible and allow it to "scab" on it's own as much as I can before applying the tegaderm. I fear that if I put something on it or in it, that it'll have bacteria and cause more issues like an infection. I also check under the flange more regularly to ensure that it's not getting infected....

Thank you David.

I found sterile 10x12cm Tegaderm patches (3M 1626W) at a local pharmacy ($2.99USD ea), but failed to get them applied correctly. I have an appointment this afternoon for my wife with a Wound and Ostomy Svcs nurse to examine the large area of damaged skin around her stoma preventing her pouch from properly sealing.

Thank you David. Ooohh.... she's gotten two treatments from the W&O care RN at her local hospital. We are grateful for their generousity, thoughtfulness, and kindness. There's quite a bit of tissue damage to recover from. I'm having to really up my game. This is not drywall repair. We are keeping our chins up.

It was a lot more fun being twenty in the seventies, then it is being seventy in the twenties.

Does anyone remember the name of the silicone ring that one can wear with a belt temporarily that doesn't further damage excoriated skin? I think it was Ehob or VPI -- but I Googled and couldn't find this fantastic product. It's a lifesaver when skin erupts and one doesn't have to apply an adhesive ostomy appliance -- although leakage may occur. Hmmm?
