I've had a graneoulma on my peristomal skin from the wafer digging into it by my ostomy belt.
I have since applied thicker, wider paste and barrier strips to hold the wafer on more securely without the assistance of the belt. The graneoulma has shrunk but still remained, often it would get irritated a few days later on the same wafer.
What I suspect is occurring is the paste is thinning out due to heat and possibly a swelling belly due to fat or my abdominal cancer (I hope not). Thus the wafer is touching the irritation again, just not digging into it.
I am using a convex wafer due to a belly fold.
So what I've done is used a segment of the hole cutout of the wafer to raise the wafer level slightly, positioning it behind the graneoulma as to prevent the wafer from touching it, shielding it basically.
It seems if I can keep any irritation away from it, it just slowly starts to shrink and disappear, without resorting to using silver nitrate sticks.
I just wish to share that with others who are experiencing the same problem.
Just remember to leave the sticky side out to bond better with the paste.

Re: Got a graneoulma?
I’ve had the same problem and ended up slipping a thin foam pad under mine – made a big difference. Fingers crossed it keeps irritation away.
