I find ordinary toothpaste easy to acquire (no shipping costs or hassle) locally, doesn't irritate the stoma (it mostly stays at the bottom anyway) and does the job reasonably well to control bag odor.
It might not work for those who also need lubrication, but it does a reasonable job of controlling odor.
I would say $1 Dollar Store toothpaste is about on par with the Perfect Choice 8 oz drops cost wise. The matter for me is local ease to acquire, but a Dollar Store can and have raised prices or ran out of the $1 toothpaste and now only sell the same at $3.
Since I'm usually in the store for other stuff it just makes sense to grab the toothpaste (an armful of them) while I'm there.
Note water rinsing the bag first before applying odor control usually works a lot better.
