Okay, after a bit of a mail mixup I finally got my hands on a 2oz bottle of the Coloplast PREP Dabber Bottle.

What this stuff is is a different chemical formula than from barrier adhesive spray, but works the same way.

So it's important NOT to mix the two products because they won't stick to one another.

So instead of spraying barrier adhesive, this PREP stuff is dabbed on using the built in applicator, sort of like how a magic marker works. It can be applied over a thin solid coat of stoma powder just like barrier spray.

The difference between the two is barrier spray forms a smooth surface after application, where paste or ring has less surface "grab" and the PREP creates a rough surface which is supposed to help with adhesion.

So supposedly of the two the PREP is better.

It DOES contain alcohol which h I can feel a slight tingling pain on a small leak wound. However it's not that bad unlike more severe leak burns the sting is far greater. Also I've learned over time to avoid alcohol under the wafer because of the skin drying effects which are painful, so we will see how that goes.

It might be possible to use the barrier spray and before it dries, dab it with something to cause more of a rough texture instead of smooth like normal.

So anyway as far as I'm able to judge off hand, the 2oz Dabber Bottle of PREP should last far longer than a pump spray of the barrier adhesive. A lot less waste as only around the stoma is targeted. However if one needs a larger area covered the spray may be more ideal and sting less

So I actually got a FOUR DAY BAG this last go around using the barrier spray with this newer improved method I'm using now. Would have been five days if I didn't go sit in the wrong type chair at a party tonight. ๐Ÿ™„

So we will see how the PREP Dabber Bottle works out.

I also took to adding 10 drops of peppermint essential oils to my rinse water bottle to address odor and it seems to be working out great. More cost effective compared to the toothpaste I have been using, so we will see how that works out as well.

Edit: Not good. Apparently the oil sticks to the bag and irritates the opening of the stoma. Even one drop is enough. Even toothpaste does the same thing.

Good luck all and stay tuned... ๐Ÿ˜Š

Okay been through two bag changes with the Dabber Bottle.

Basically they work the same, the Dabber Bottle is good for just tiny leaks like mine. Very cost effective.

The barrier spray is better to cover larger areas, wastes a lot if used unnecessarily. Has to be sprayed light or it smooths out too much unlike the Dabber Bottle

I'm finding out that going around the stoma with it twice then allowing it 60 seconds to dry seems to work well. Holding the toilet paper tube over the wafer/stoma for a good 5 minutes gives a great bond.

Just search Google for Coloplast PREP Dabber Bottle

No it's not listed on Coloplast web site unfortunately maybe they are trying to phase it out as it's too cost effective. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But then again Coloplast makes a lot of stuff that's not listed on their website.

It's available various places, but it may help to spell it correctly: It's a "Dabber" bottle (not Dabbler).
