New member - in NJ Would like to talk Urinary Diversion

Post by mattwolrad »

I'm 40 year old male who has been using external catheter due to birth defect. Have done damage to my shaft and can not continue this way. Would like to hear from people that have had surgeries. I'm not a candidate to do intermittent cath due to small bladder.

Any good doctors people can recommend? I already have a colostomy due to wound I had that would not heal and it hasnt been so bad. I hate the idea of another bag or stoma but I think I can live with it. I have another consult with surgeon on Tuesday. He mentioned 6-8 week recovery time. Does that sound right to others? Ive very active and work full time. Manual wheelchair user. I use to drinking alot and do everything on my own.

Thanks to anyone who answers.
