CUR Fistula

Hello Everyone,

I had a continent urinary reservoir installed last spring. Kind of like an Indiana Pouch. Everything went pretty well except there seems to be a fistula between the CUR and the large bowl. It shows up on the xray. The doc is xraying every 8 weeks. Hopefully it will close by itself and not need another surgery.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

I got several private message replies to this, so I thought I would share my experience with the fistula.

My fistula closed, it did not require a further surgery. It took nearly a year. Tried several things, nothing seemed to work. When it really turned around was when I followed this procedure:

Basically a low-residue diet for 8 weeks, and keeping the CUR/Indiana Pouch on a bag the whole time. This allows the fistula to heal from both sides. It seems to have worked for me. The cystogram/pouchogram came back great.

I even went one step further, and did a juice fast for the first week. Not sure if this was really necessary. Feel free to send me a message.
