Does anyone know what this is?

My doctor wants to do a procedure on me where they kill the nerves in the area that is causing me pain. Does anyone know what this is called? I am not sure I want to have any more surgery. I've had my pouch for 9 months. I take Fentanyl Patches but get no relief. I've tried as many pain medicatons with no relief. My doctor says that this nerve procedure is the only way to control the pain.
Can anyone help me figure out what this is and if I should go for it or suffer with the pain.
Thank you for your time.

Did he call it a denervation? I had that done. I also have had a procedure where they inject stuff into the nerve to kill it. That worked very well for me.
I don't know

He didn't use the word denervation. What nerves do they kill? How do they know they are killing the correct nerves? Do the nerves grow back and do you have to have it done again?

Nerve tissue does NOT grow back - that's why Christopher Reeve and his foundation looked for so many years - and are still looking, to solve the problem of permanent paralysis from spinal cord injury.
Some doctors will inject a bit of novacaine as a trial, to be sure they have the right nerve and that the desired result is achieved, before they actually kill it. You will want to ask your doctor some more questions about the procedure before agreeing to it.
