ok so i know a few of u around here have the "ace malone" so he be a question for u ???
hannah wears an "ace stopper " in her ace kinda like a plug thing:) with a mepore dressing over the top....this is ok until a lil bit of mucous comes through the ace , hits the dressing then the seal is broken and the stopper falls out lol.
Now last night after her washout i was trawling through her supplies and in the packet for the ace stopper is this silicone seal thingy seems to be a proper ace dressing ....now i was gonna just use it but then stopped myself cause they never mentioned anything bout using it at the hospital ....
so i guess my question is what do u guys use??? stoppers ,band aid or this funny looking silicone thing!!!!!

I just got my Ace last June, and my surgeon never said anything about covering it. I dont usually have anything on it, yes i do get some mucus, but thats usually only if i didnt get a chance to go the washout on my normal schedule, and sometimes i get some right after the washout, but usually from washout to washout i dont have a problem. I dont cover it at all. Now when im swimming i sometimes cover it with a water proof bandaid (i did it everytime for like 2 months after surgery but my dr said i didnt need to it was just for my peace of mind) if i've been having mucus or feel like i might (idk i get a wierd cramp and then some mucus, hard to explain, but sometimes i know when i get it) My ace is located right below my panty line, which is probably different from Hannahs, but no i dont use anything to cover my stoma, except an occasional bandaid, i hope this helps. Ive never heard of a stoma stopper or silcone thing or anything. but a bandaid works fine for me, sometimes if i have a ton of mucus the bandaid might leak alittle (this has only happened once and i was sick and on anti-biotics and just wasnt feeling great so that could be why) But generally no problems and no bandaid, i hope that this helps

Oh and my stoma is really really tiny too, its not even as big as an eraser on a pencil its alot smaller. I use an infant feeding tube for washouts so idk if that gives you a better idea so this might also have something to do with not needing to cover it, sorry this reply was so long, let me know what you find out or decide, good luck!

I have a mitrofanoff, which is when a catheter is placed in to a stoma, and urine comes out.. I am unsure of what a malone is exactly... I never cover my stoma at all...
