Do any of you jog, bike, or multisport? How long before you were able to re-enter those activities post surgery?

Look forward,
Amy

Amy,

Due to some bleeding complications possibly caused by excessive working out after surgery (I apparently ruptured the staple line of the KPouch), I have been put on a partial hiatus. Dr. Fazio at the Cleveland Clinic has said that I could continue to jog without any fear. Originally he told me to wait six months before working out or playing any vigorous sports. So I would assume that is the normal amount of time to wait. Once you are past that time (and dont have complications like I did), I cant think of any sports that you wouldnt be able to participate in.

It was six months before I was confident to REALLY work out.....meaning a good power walk, light free weights and very gentle abs.
I have taken yoga classes, step classes, gone swimming, white water rafting and hiking. A sport that I might get kicked in the belly concerns me and I stay away from those (I'm not that athletic anyway).

The thing to remember is to not rush into anything.
In the long run, giving your body the time it needs to heal is more important than getting back to exercising which will eventually happen..and you'll be in better shape at that point.
