Is this right after she irrigates or sometime later on in the day? I was always told it was a one way valve too! Though, for a bit after I take the tube out, some mucuous does make its way out. This is usually between pulling out and taking a shower, so within 15-20 minutes. So if its right after the cleaning, then I think it has to do with the tube stretching out the stoma. Need some more details...

I tend to find that if Anna leaks at all it's cos she's not cleaned out properly. If she starts to block up a bit (which can still happen even when it seems to be coming out every day) then the pressure builds up enough to push stuff back out the stoma.
We do have the benefit of having ACE plugs, which are mainly to keep the stoma patent if you're having trouble with it tightening, but also help stop any minor leaks. If you want some more info about these email me privately, I can email a photo or send some to you if you want.
Cheers

How long has she had the ACE? They do seem to be a lot more leaky when they're newish. Then it seems to be pretty normal for a while till it all settles down.
Now though we only get leakage rarely, when somethings gone wrong and she's full. Oh and once when she ate a whole lot of plums! It came through still smelling like plums, though not ones you might want to eat , LOL!

I've had the ace malone for more than a year (feb 2006)
I know the feeling about leaking. If it's right after the "flush" I have that too, and I'm guessing just about everyone does. But I've also noticed that if you keep it covered (band-aid, gauze, exc) that causes it to leak more. I'm not really sure why, it just happens that way for me. When I don't cover it, it will just come to the surface and kinda form a scab, and that happens everyday for me. I have to kinda peel away the scab before i can put the cath in again. Right after I had my malone done i had some issues with it closing up so i had to leave the cath in 24-7 before i had my revision. When I had that it would come back into the tube and sometimes the cap would come off and that caused a big mess. It would also come out around the opening due to the cath being taped to the side. AND i completely understand the smell thing. I'm not sure why but it has like a different, yet pretty bad smell.
If you have ne ? about my experince feel free to pm me.
