I have a J-pouch and a temp. ileostomy. I have not had any trouble working, so no disability.

I actually do get disability because of my health issues. I have a urinary pouch and I get lots of infections, so because of this I have lost most of my jobs because I get sick so much. I do work part time, but full time is out of the question for me. All I can say is to apply and see what happens. Just having a pouch does not automatically qualify for getting disability.

I have been pursuing permanent disability due to the recurring pouchitis (infections) I get in my pouch. I've had my pouch for 25 years and the frequency of the infections has increased and the response to medications has taken longer.
I have tried a variety of work environments: outside, inside & work from home but continue to experience repeated infections. Some of this is due to stress from the work I do and I'm sure some is due to an inability to use the restroom regularly.
My disability attorney is very confident I will be able to win my case but... I haven't had my day in court yet. Hopefully, I will have more information in a few months to share.
