Emails through the board website

When you register or fill out your profile, there is an option on there to "Always show my e-mail address". When you mark this as yes, it will show a small "email" icon at the bottom of your posts and on your profile. It will NOT show your actual email address to anyone. What happens when someone clicks this button? First, if the person who clicks it isn't a registered user or isn't logged on, they'll be prompted to log on. Assuming the person is registered and logged on, they will see a screen in which they can email you. Again, your email address is not revealed. Once they hit send, it goes through the system within our website and generates an email that is sent to the address you listed on your profile. Therefore, you are emailed blindly by the person doing the emailing.
Once you get the email in your box, it will appear to be from the UOAA website. You will get a message reading as follows:

Hello (your username),

The following is an email sent to you by (username of sender) via your account on UOAA Discussion Board. If this message is spam, contains abusive or other comments you find offensive please contact the webmaster of the board at the following address:

(administrator's email address)

Include this full email (particularly the headers). Please note that the reply address to this email has been set to that of (username of sender).

Message sent to you follows

the email sent to you will follow the above message.

Some guidelines to follow with emails through the board are:

1. If you are offended, forward the email to an administrator,
2. If you think they are spam, again, email them to an administrator
3. Your personal email address is not made public
4. If you don't want to be emailed through the board you need to check NO where appropriate in your profile.
