Hello!

Welcome to the Young Adults/YODAA board! This board is provided for those between the ages of 18-30, and those who feel young at heart! :D

As with the rest of the UOAA's website, this board is designed to be topical and as UOAA's President Ken Aukett has said in the first issue of the UOAA's new magazine The Phoenix, "worthy of consideration as the nation's foremost ostomy related website."

Due to questions regarding what is considered "off-topic" and what is not, I have copied the Discussion Board Rules as found on the Board Forum Index. They read as follows:

This message board is provided by, maintained and managed by the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc. It is intended for discussion relevant to UOAA and intestinal or urinary diversionary surgery. Messages should be informative, educational, supportive and respectful.

UOAA reserves the right to remove messages, block users after a warning and update policy without notice. The following posts and/or replies are subject to removal and the responsible user(s) being blocked from the discussion board: inflammatory; derogatory; controversial; religious; political; off-topic; profanity; another user's e-mail; questions/debate about board policy/management; personal attacks/harassment; boycott campaigns.

Please respect these rules while posting on the board. We never want to create any kind of environment other than that of welcoming and open to all users of this board.

If you would like to communicate with other users of this board on matters not directly pertaining to ostomy-related issues, I encourage you to chat via email or an intsant messaging service. If you would like to make yourself available to these types of outside communication, please set up your user profile (see the top of the Board's page) to share your email address or IM username.

Thank you all for your respect and valuable information that you share with the thousands of ostomates that use this website every day in living their lives to the fullest!

Best wishes for health and happiness,

Julielyn

Greetings!

Thanks Julielyn for your insight. To further what Julielyn said...everything you guys out there do to keep the board informative and clean saves a lot of trouble for us moderators. I would hate to have to remove posts, but I will if it is deemed necessary. So please keep our jobs easy!

Continue with the wonderful posting. You cannot possibly imagine how many people have benefitted by the knowledge you have imparted to this board. Those of you who are further along in your experience with ostomies have undoubtedly helped many people who are new to the experience, and in turn they have gained the experience to help the next generation of ostomates. I too have learned so much about everyone's diagnoses and diseases, so I can better understand what you all deal with on a daily basis. And I expect to learn even more in the future.

Just remember, this board is an online community, and is representative of the real community found amongst young adult ostomates and friends, and in the YODAA organization itself. And how we express ourselves in our community is how others outside our community will view us, which we hope to be a positive one. So just keep that in mind while you post. So be safe, keep it clean, and have fun! And as I always end messages...keep on bagg'n!

Thanks,
Eric

There's hardly a day that goes by when I wish that this board had been around in 1990 when I was 18, fresh from ostomy surgery, and feeling overwhelmed and totally alone in the world. I hope I can do my part for newbies here.
