Hi there!
There's no support group in my area of New Hampshire, so I wanted to know how to start one!
What do I do?

There are some general ideas and suggestions at:

Unfortunately there's no local self-help group clearinghouse in your area, but if anyone else wants to start a group, such a non-profit center can be helpful to your starting and running your group. A worldwide list is at:

For more ideas, e.g., on how to tap professionals, keep group from turning into a "pity part," etc, there a variety of materials at:

Just to add to the mix of information and resource ....
UOAA would love to have more local support groups as members. As Steve says, we have our own programs to assist people to organize those groups, and we conduct Leadership seminars in several parts of the country each year to help leaders develop their skills.
The Self-Help Clearinghouse is another good source of information about HOW to do it. Thanks to EdinNJ for reminding us.
At the end of the day, we hope that the new support groups,
whatever their source of assistance and recommendations, will become
affiliated with the UOAA*. We will list you on another part of this website so that people in your locale will know how to contact you, we will keep you up-to-date about what is happening within UOAA, we put on informative conferences with a full range of ostomy-related topics.
