Jeffrey,

The J-pouch group's discussion board is preset to change the size of images posted there, due to the same concern - the amount of space they would take up on the server. To cope with that and the many other issues that come with posting photos, many packaged communication programs like ours - phpBB - are set up to connect to images on an external server.

They know that people want to share photos, and they have really made it quite simple. As with many aspects of life, we just have to figure out how to do it... it becomes much easier with practice, just like dealing with our own 'added features'.

What other issues? I mentioned the display size of the picture and how it might require readers to have to scroll back and forth to read the text . There is also the consideration of download time - how fast the site will load for a particular viewer. People who are using dial-up to connect will have to wait several minutes for some photos to load - and once the process starts they can't do much else until it is done. So be fair to your friends ... make your images smaller before you post them and connect to them. We'll still get to enjoy that new puppy you just got, Jeffrey, only faster.

We are already in the largest capacity/usage level that our service provider offers - thanks to the great success of this forum and the number of people like you who want to support each other. It's the support that is paramount for our organization; the ability to share photos is nice but it's not the primary objective.

Bob's probably up to his you-know-what in work on changing over the board and rolling his eyes and saying to himself, "who asked anyone for an opinion anyway"......

Yes, Bob is very busy with setting this all up so we don't have to bwe done very long.
And we don't mind suggestions. Most posters feel a personal ownership of these forums and we know that. We have a great bunch of people here and we all work hard to make it all look easy and make the forums helpful to everyone. I don't know what we would do without Bob's dedication and expertise.
