It's been 9 days, same bag, any long-term issues?

I use a once piece convex and change the wafer (and the bag) about every 5-7 days now since I've realized a few mistakes I was making.

The 9 day bag leaked a little and output dried on top of my protective sheet, so I didn't feel it and it did grow mold.

My guess is to suggest not allowing the wafer section to remain attached any longer than 7 days. About 7 days with mine and the wafer starts getting nasty and old.

But it is amazing that you got 2.5 weeks with the wafer on.

Can you share, in detail, what steps and product that your using?

I have been using a two-piece system. I have bee changing the bag every 4 or 5 days. I have no leaks from the ring system glued around the stoma.

My question is how often should I change the ring system glued around the stoma? There is no significant pancaking and no noticeable mold, but it has been 2 1/2 weeks of bag changes with no re-glue work. My wife thinks I should discard the glued ring soon.

That sounds good that you've been able to keep the wafer on that long! Typically I would and am currently shooting for 7 days. The main reason besides leakage is smell. The rings I've used all absorb moisture including soil. I either use a sticker over the filter of the pouch or use an old pouch I solely use in the shower to keep the wafer dry in the shower. Unfortunately I have a small imperfection that happens to be on the under side of the stoma and from there water coming off the stoma will leak under any seal weakening the adhesive by 4 days. As clean as my pouch may be, the wafer begins to smell.

I just change at a minimum of seven days.
It's a confidence thing.
I just change and don't worry about it for another seven.
I really don't want to keep it on long.
I want to keep or clean everything . Personally I think it keeps my skin healthy.

If you have a skin dent near your stoma that output is leaking underneath, perhaps you should instead switch to using a paste. A paste absorbs nothing.

To me a ring that absorbs output and holds it against the skin or causes an odor of decay isn't a product I wouldn't be using.

The rings I have tried were all output resistant, basically paste in a more solid ring form that melts and contours to body shape. However it's not as fluid as paste for skin gaps or dents or body folds like what I have. I also have a granuloma, so paste can contour around that unlike a ring which is very flat.

Thing with a paste is when you apply the wafer is to press gently and firmly, not try to squash it down hard which makes it squirt out. It will form a wall if given time to set up, filling all your gaps, dents and body folds.

I always apply paste to the skin first to judge how it's adhering as it allows adjusting if an area doesn't stick, then apply the wafer on top and gently press down.

I'll have to look into that again. I started off using Hollister paste and will use it now and again but, boy howdy it has some fumes! I need to look it over again to be sure it doesn't contain alcohol though.

Yes, granuloma! I had to look that up and yes, that appears to be what is at the skin surface as a point of weakness to what would be the perfect seal otherwise. It weeps water off the stoma as normal so I either have to put the ring over it or sacrifice the bare skin on either side if I avoid covering it.

Look into a no sting paste as it doesn't contain alcohol.

However you should sanitize the skin around the stoma, I use anti bacterial soap followed by a moisturizer in the shower or else the soap alone makes the skin itchy.

You can see my full procedure in detail to get similar ideas to apply in your situation.

Although you might not need a convex everything else is similar and has worked for my success.
