Lee:
Thank you for your help.
Home health was fired after the nurse showed up 10 days after discharge & did vitals, looked at draining wound and said surgeon won't take out staples next day after telling me to do the powder and skin protection wipe opposite. It was disaster and why I had to go to ostomy nurse at medical supply store, who was very good as I didn't ahve the supplies nor help.
I am doing the coloplast Mio despite the filter issue as it is not causing the smell to leak out, you just have stool all over the top of it even if you put the lubricating drops all over the inside of the bag before putting on. I have put the pieces of tape over the filter sometimes as i put on the bag first time and sometimes later but filter doesn't always work later when doing than it does othertimes. I have talked to coloplast about this and that was their suggestion to cover partial filter each time but it still takes all air out (as bag designed to do but don't think they thought about pancaking being possible). I have seen an outpatient ostomy nurse at medical supply store as I needed help and happened to get coloplast samples on saturday for sunday change. she helped decide convex barriers are better than flat as it is right at my waist line and protects stoma. the hopsital outpatient ostomy nurse was beyond helpful as she herself has an ostomy. Found out pain is due to separation in multiple areas right against stoma and doing the ring from coloplast with powder and skin spray. She showed how easy to use release spray to get off and this really helped at home this week.
I am allergic to something in the adhesive as I thought for years and have to be careful with all tapes and the ring (Cera i think) as taking off skin every time we changed until I got coloplast samples.
Convatec sent 2.75" barriers in samples and have not touch them as they have adhesive on the barriers (besides being way to big even right post surgery). Coloplast has the barriers that are like the NICU products from Neotech (think this is name) and my skin likes so much more, which ostomy nurses both agreed about.
Issue now is that wound opened around umbilical area over the weekend and surgeon took out the remaining stpales 2 days ago & opened that one area more and 2nd area that is much larger is really close to the barrier, so now afraid to shower w/o bag in place. So have to see wound clinic tomorrow who does ostomy also so they can determine what to do. Wet to dry BID now but husband said white in the smaller wound and the doctors are saying necrosis around the umbilical area with 2nd wound much larger that they say 3 months to heal.
right now coloplast mio with barrier convex plus ring are what using. I have those barrier strips but hard to get off as no tabs like the bag and barrier, which i love as helps when trying to change. i will ask about stomadhesive tomorrow to see if any help over the powder and showering with wounds so close to stoma.
Thank you guys for your help. I am glad to know that some products from one provider may need to be changed due to allergic reaction and will try to make sure to to keep the accessories that I may need from all 3 handy.

Wow, 10 days for the home nurse to show up is very wrong. I saw mine with in a few days. Left hospital on Friday night, nurse started coming on Monday 3X weekly for a few weeks. Yes those store front medical places do have some awesome people. 5 years ago, I had an hernia repair, ostomy nurse gave me hollister drainable bag with gas passer. I was going thru the drainables with in a few days. Went to my favorite place and they set me up with non gas passer closed in pouches. Used those until I healed up and went back to my favorite products.
Hope the Coloplast does work for you. Good luck.

they sent me a survey that will be will sent back with pages. I mean the director was called by my husband and I certainly "did not choose them as they think". I had home health w/hospital system I had surgery 3 years in 2017 for 4.5 months. They were at my house before I was when discharged in Sept 2017 after 30 days IP. they also call or text night before to set up time and change if didn't work for me. they came out 1 Sunday 3 times when had wound vac and finally removed that day as I couldn't move w/o pain. wound nurse apologized for not thinking to take off 3 hours earlier. I was just thankful she would come out 3rd time. I was very upset to find out they didn't have ability to take new ostomy patients and let them know I was fearful of another company i didn't know about and couldn't get info on. Well I will tell hospital HH rep if another surgery or admit & in same predictament to give me the info I need for what services and I will call the lady who met at ostomy meeting who i wished they called but didn't. I mean I told them i wanted ostomy nurse certified to come out on 22nd of March but never requested.
If anyone in St Louis, I would think twice before letting Del Mar Gardens HH see you or get ordered for you. Never again.
thank you info on the bags without filter as thinking of getting some to try if available to see if I like them.
