Detrol LA 4mg

My Urologist just prescribed Detrol LA 4mg for me to use because my Indiana pouch spasms at time which causes pouch leakage. Anyone out there in the group take this drug and how effective has it been for you?

I have never tried that one. I sometimes take dicyclomine(Levsin) for spasms that make my Indiana pouch leak.The reason I leak is because I have IBS in my pouch. My pouch is almost 17 years old. How old is yours?

My pouch is 2 years 7 months old.

Levsin is a muscle relaxant. Detrol LA controls bladder spasms, but is not a relaxant. I have been given the Levsin for back spasms. I take Detrol LA on a daily basis and have found the bladder not to spasm, without the side effects of a muscle relaxant.

Actually, I stopped takeing the Detrol LA because I was getting stomach spasms as a side reaction. Did not seem to help my pouch spasms.

I was wrong- dicyclomine is actually Bentyl and it helps my spasms.

Bentyl is good for intestinal spasms, but the Detrol is for bladder. Bentyl knocks me out, but the Detrol has been very effective for bladder spasms and have no side effects. May want to follow up with your doc, as I had a lot of bladder/kidney procedures to diagnose the correct meds.

The reason that Bentyl works for me is that my pouch is made from intestine. My pouch still thinks it is intestine even though it really is now my bladder. That is why it works for me.
