As a casual comment, don`t assume every doctor or nurse is well versed in this or any other illness. I thought i had a good support team and at about 4 years i found a local colostomate group and heard a discussion on irrigation. It made so much sense and changed my life. The next time i visited the surgeon and nurse for a check up and asked about it they said they heard some people do it, but neither thought it was a good idea. I went looking for a new doctor. A good friend is the head of nursing at a large hospital and she said anytime you need a doctor call me and i'll send you a list of what nurses call "old school" doctors and there are a ton of them, they don`t change from what they learned at graduation age has nothing to do with it..it is an attitude . This is ok for colds and flu, but many serious thing have had major changes very recently. I took her advice for chemo and an eye surgeon and when researching her suggestions found the internet backed up her doctors.Talk to others, way the suggestions, use the internet, the people who try to help may have stayed at a Holiday Inn, but have no real exposure. Love this site!!! Nothing works for everyone. A close friend had severe throat cancer, refused sugery and chemo in two month a tennis ball tumor was gone by drinking a concoction he believed in. Attitude is everything. My insurance company ordered a checkup to see if i still needed colostomy suplies and i couldn`t stop laughing. The poor girl calling couln`t figure out what i thought was funny, i told her if i had figured out how to grow a colon i`d be a billionare .
