Having noticed a funny tenderness and stiffness below the ostomy, I freaked and thought it was another hernia. Ostomy nurse took a look and wasn’t sure what the heck it was. No blockage and a funny redness like a sunburn. Also warm. Otherwise peristomal skin great.
Surgeon did ultrasound and concluded probably inflammatory response to something deep but not a hernia. I’m on antibiotics and if the thing hasn’t resolved or improved by this coming Monday he’ll try draining it on Tuesday,
This began Saturday. Today is Tuesday. A week from Thursday I fly out for about a week.
Posting to vent but if anyone’s got any ideas...

Thanks. Doesn't seem to have gotten worse, might even be a little better. Of course too soon to tell. But as long as there's nothing rapidly changing or outright painful...

Veddy minor update
I looked up “cellulitis” which surgeon mentioned and yep seems to be classic case. Not an ostomy issue, but abx should resolve it in a week or so. I have a ten day supply of pills.
Of course, I had to warn the doc I have a mild allergy to penicillin and its relatives. It’s not a bad rash, it just tends to show up under the wafer!
